Mary Wales


Following her graduation from Millersville State Normal School in 1893, Mary Wales taught together will fellow Millersville graduate Gertrude Johnson in Providence, Rhode Island at Bryant & Stratton Business School. She, along with Gertrude Johnson, went on to found Johnson & Wales Secretarial School in 1914 with the enrollment of just one student. The school founded by Wales and Johnson eventually grew to become Johnson & Wales University with an international enrollment of over 15,000 students.
