After graduating from Millersville in 1884, Carrie Myers continued her education at Cook County Normal School in Illinois, where she graduated with the highest honors. In 1893, she was named the first female principal of the Model School of the Millersville State Normal School. Myers served as a Millersville faculty member for 30 years from 1893 to 1923. She died in 1950 after a long and productive life. To honor her contributions, the former Model School was rededicated as Myers Hall in 1968. That Hall is now known as Hash Building of Bassler Hall part of the McCollough Communications Complex.
