In 1971 she joined the Lancaster law firm of her husband, Carl G. Herr, Attorney-at-Law. She was honored with an appointment as a Lancaster County assistant District Attorney in 1973 and was later elected as the first female judge of the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas in 1985.
